dee: I've really enjoyed my visit. Love you hats, so cute. Sorry to hear about your neighbors. It isn't easy trying to be a good neighbor to folks who take advantage of your patience and tolerance of their critters. I know this one...my ex-neighbors were good folks, but for some reason they never gave a second thought to their dog terrorizing the neighborhood. People are so odd sometimes. I hope you all have some peace now and your next neighbors are good ones. Have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Morning

  • Weather:
  • What's on my TV: Judge Joe Brown
  • I am thankful TODAY for: Lost count, around 150

Hello everyone, long time no see.  I must admit I sort of lost interest in my blog for a while.I hope to get back to posting regularly now.  Quite alot has happened since I posted last.  My cat Opie had to have surgery 3 weeks ago today.  He developed 'Urinary Calculi' and just about died.  He spent the weekend at the Emergency Vet Hospital and now he is his same old ornery self......$850 later.  I was very happy he recovered from this.  Now he will have to eat this special food for the rest of his life so to prevent this ever happening again.  Supposedly this kind of prescription food helps to dissolve crystals now.  Boy he HATED it and fussed at me for a week but now he seems to accept it.

My brother and my husband are building a race truck and are spending major $ too, but I'm not supposed to know about how much I don't think....LOL.  Right now I really don't care since I spent that much on my cat.  The Nitrous kit came yesterday via Fed Ex.  I didn't look at the invioce on purpose....(((c:

The saga with the people across the field seems to be over.  They moved out about 2 weeks ago thank GOD.  You just ought to SEE the trash mess they left behind...even a CAR!  It is just unreal to me how people can live this way.  I hate to seem like this but they were just a lower class of people.  Anybody that abuses and neglects animals to me are a LOWER CLASS of people and I offer NO excuse for thinking that.  I don't know where they moved to but whereever they went I really feel sorry for the people who have to live near them.  I'm getting fired up so I won't say anything more about THAT!!  I'm just glad they are GONE from my eyesight!!

I've been crocheting a little, just for a change of pace.  I also read a book....YES I read a book!!  It was Ashley Smith's 'Unlikely Angel'.  One of those I couldn't put down till I was done.  My Mom read it after me.  It was very good.

Well, I will go for now, I hope to get back in the swing of things and post often again.  I have a slight headache so I think I will go lay down for a while before DD gets home.  This ragweed is starting to kick up here and always knocks me for a loop every year.

Wednesday Evening

  • Weather:
  • What's on my TV: Fox News
  • I am thankful TODAY for: Haven't counted today, not sure.

I have just had a sickening feeling all day, seeing all the devastation of the hurricane on the news.  It's just hard to describe the feeling in my stomach.  I think I even dreamed about it last night. These's people's lives, as they knew it, are over.  I know we shouldn't question, but I would like to know why this had to happen.

GAS.  I filled up yesterday.  DH and Bro waited till this afternoon and THAT was a mistake.  Bro filled up at 2.99 a gal and DH, BECAUSE he waited till this evening, filled up at 3.49!  I just think I will STAY HOME.  From what I hear, we are not going to be able to afford shrimp, oysters or chicken either.  Shrimp and oysters I can do without, but I love my chicken.

There's just really no telling what we are going to see before this is all over with.

Tuesday Morning

  • Weather:
  • What's on my TV: CNN-Katrina coverage
  • I am thankful TODAY for: Working on 2nd box-15 so far.

Good morning.  I have been watching CNN and local news for 2 days.  The devastation of Katrina is just unreal.  My heart just aches for these people.  I am so thankful my loved ones are safe because I can imagine how it must feel to those who are worried about the poeple they love.

The weather we had here was so wierd.  I think they said there was 22 GA counties that had tornadoes yesterday evening.  There were tornadoes popped up all around us but only got as close as a few miles, but close enough for the tornado siren to sound several times and THAT is scary.  It's like you are a sitting duck and not know where it is going to come from.  Here it got very black and still, then a huge band of rain and wind and lightening and thunder would start....then all of a sudden it would stop, then start up again in a few minutes.  It just really felt odd outside.  This morning.  it's windy, hot and humid and raining in spirts.  It will get dark and the next minute the sun will be shining.  I am in NO WAY complaining about our weather though, when there are so many people that have no homes to go back to.  I also worry about all the animals that are in danger now.

On another subject, here it is Aug 30 and my neighbor is obviously making no signs of being evicted and moving out.  She looked like she was loading her car up several days last week but since, nothing.  HE is still hiding out from us I guess.  We haven't seen him there since DH made a few phone calls to him telling him he was going to be VERY SORRY if he didn't pay us for this destruction his dog did.  It's probably best he don't show his face around here because DH and my brother both have tempers and just may decide to take it in their own hands...LOL.

Speaking of my brother, this past weekend, he got a new toy.....a mini chopper. Black with red flames...too cute!  We will use it to take to the drag strip.  All of the race tracks are just so big and you really need something to ride around on or you just about walk yourself to death.  We do take the gofl cart and the 4 wheeler but we have to find somebody to pull the trailer with them.  This cute little mini bike can be hauled in the bed of the truck.  Several of our friends have them too.  DH is taking about getting the kids one and also have it for the track too.

Well, I need to do 'house' duties, as much as I don't want to!  TTFN!

Friday Morning

  • Weather: much cooler because of Hurricane Katrina
  • What's on my TV: Montel
  • I am thankful TODAY for: Sent a box of 60 hats this morning!

Good Friday Morning!  I haven't been worth 2 cents this morning.  Just can't get motivated.  Got up with a headache and my right eye has flared up again.  This summer I have developed another wonderful syntom of my allergies...a type of non contagous conjunctivitis.  It has given me trouble all summer.  I have 2 prescriptions for it and now I have learned to be aware when I feel it's coming on.  One time it went in my left eye but mostly it's just my right eye everytime.  I hate this.  The meds I have knock it out in a couple of days but it always seems to come back.  The Doc calls it 'chronic'.  Great.

This morning I won a set of S&P's I've been wanting.  I collect vintage and vintage look Fire King Jadite dish ware.  These dishes were popular in the 50's.  I love the light green milkyglass ones. Why do I love these dishes so much?  I can remember my Grandmother and Aunt having these dishes.Just a memory from my childhood I guess.

An update on our neighbors:  He is still MIA.  We have not seen him since last Thursday.  No sign of them moving out since the 1st of the week either. ....so I'm not sure what's going on now.  DH called yesterday and got all the info about filing a suit against him.  It cost $69 to file a suit then you get a court date approx 45 days.  Now he's not so sure if this is all worth it but he still doesn't want the idot to get away with it either.  I told him it was just up to him if he wants to go thru all the headache of a suit.  I don't know what he will decide now.

This morning my brother took my 1st box of charity hats.  I donated 60 hats. I also sold a few of my newborn hats and I have kept a few and mailed one very special hat to one certain little girl of a stitching online friend of mine. The next bunch of hats I donate will go to Keri's school because around Thanksgiving every year they collect warm clothing, canned goods, toys, etc for the needy.

Think I will go make myself a salad.  My favorite salad is Romane lettuce, parmsean cheese, tomatoes, green olives and bacon bits.  YUM!

TTFN!

Tuesday Morning

  • Weather: COOL 79 degrees this morning!
  • What's on my TV: Judge Hatchett
  • I am thankful TODAY for: 75

Yes, my trashy neighbors are MOVING!!  The other side of this is that we live on a dead end road and there's only one way in and out when we leave.  Yesterday I ran errands and was in and out several times during the day.  The neighbor gave me the finger twice as I was leaving.  No I didn't give it back to her but I sure wanted to.  They are loading up their car since the weekend.  The guy that owns that property told DH that they had to the end of the month to get out so hopefully they will be GONE by the weekend.  He also told DH that he has been trying to get them out for 2 months now.  I don't understand the fact that it takes so long to legally evict somebody.  People like this have all the rights it seems.  There's was just a story on the news where a lady in Atlanta was holed up in her house and had a shootout with police as her house was being repossessed because she had not paid her mortgage in a year and a half!!  Just makes no sense.

My brother's work (Cintas) is doing a charity thing, collecting things for needy children (newborn thry 15 yrs old)...some missionary organization.  He is going to get me the info about it and I think I am going to let him have the hats I have made so far to donate.  Most of the hats I have made are newborn and toddler sized.  Good deal, as long as they are going to a good place.

I have especially enjoyed making the newborn hats because I can use the sport weight yarn in baby colors.  They turn out so soft and it only takes about an hour to make one.  Some days I've had time to make several in one day.  They are so small and sweet.

I've still not bought any yarn at all.  I sure do want to but reducing my stash is a need-be so I am using what I have.

Well, laundry is bekoning, darn it!!

The neighbor is MIA

So now we know the neighbor's dog killed 5 of my chickens and after DH called him and told him either he pay for the damages or there will be a warrant taken out on him next week.  The neighbor and his GF have not been at home since they found out the dog come over here and did all this.  DH went over there on Friday evening and told her and she got in her car and left immediately and nobody has been seen since over there.  A phone call to the guy who owns that property said they were being evicted at the end of the month.....so WHO KNOWS what's going to happen next, or if they will even COME back.  I hope they don't.  Almost 3 years is enough.

It goes on and on

Good Morning!  It's been all week I think since I have posted.  I've been sick this week and the computer has not been my priority lately.  I have gotten on at least once a day just to check mail but no writing replies or anything.  I feel better today.  I am going to get my nails done in a while.

So, the saga with my stupid neighbor goes on and on....but hopefully not much longer.  I got word this morning that they have been evicted from that place and have to be out by the end of the month....Yay.  Remember me trapping the Rhottie and taking it to the Animal Control?  Well, it was just a matter of days that he brought another dog home and never bothered to go claim the Rhottie back.  Well, this time he got, of all breeds, a dachshund!  Yesterday, I went to the pasture and there was this little adult male doxie, in my chicken pen and 2 dead chickens.  I took pics of the chickens and DH went to pay them a visit, told the GF that we had his dog and he would pay for his chickens before he got the dog back.  GF said he was on his way home from work and would be there anytime.  Well, we didn't no more turn around than she got in her car and left and there has been NOBODY home since.  I went over there myself about 5-6 times till 11pm last night and nobody home.  I know what he's doing.  He is scared of DH because last time DH had any conversation with him, DH had a mini wooden baseball bat in his face.  That was over the Rhottie.  So, 3 yrs of this and we've had enough.  I am calling Animal Control in a few to get a report on this.  I will let everybody know what happens.

When it rains, it pours.......

  • What's on my TV: Today Show

Yes, when it rains, it pours.  DH discovered our house hot water heater had been leaking for a few days (I guess) so we had to replace it this morning.  DH did it himself.  He is a definite do it yourself-er and would not DARE call anybody and have to pay somebody to do something like that.  Actually it's nice to have a DH who can do anything, BUT GETTING him to do something is a whole different story.  He is a big-time procrastinator  The hot water heater is a have-to though.  He had today off because he worked last weekend and now he's ill because this happened on his day off when he had other plans....like work on that race truck.

So, right now I have no water....no hot, no cold.  Bummer.

My brother called a few minutes ago with some GREAT news too.  He was going down 138 and Tara Blvd in Atl in his Cintas truck and the back door came open and his hand trucks fell out and hit the car behind him.   He said it messed the car up pretty bad and that the lady was really nice about it.  Thank goodness she was ok...I bet it scared her to death.  Well, Bro got a ticket for failure to secure load so now he has to go back to the plant and take a drug test because he had an accident in the truck.  Of course he's not worried about the test....it's just that he's never had to do this before and is very upset about the whole thing.  He'll have to pay the ticket and pay the deductible too.

So, other than that, I guess I don't have much else going on.  Oh yes, my dryer is also on the blink too.  I can still use it but it squeaks like you wouldn't believe.  Hubs says the bearings are wore out on the drum....ok, so when is THAT going to get fixed???

I guess I'm just not woken up yet but I feel like a zombie this morning.  Mornings are NOT my thing that's for sure.  I really don't become alive until about noon.

So yesterday was a good mail day.  I got an Ebay package.  I got the KniftyKnitter purple loom and the KniftyKnitter pom pom/tassel maker.  The tassel and pom pom maker is a real neat little gadget.  When Keri got home, she even had a good time making tassel people (what I learned to make in Girl Scouts!) But the Purple loom is a different story.  I have gotten so frustrated with it!  I have figured out to put my yarn on it, I just can figure out how I'm supposed to work my yarn off of it and make my 1st row.  In the Yahoo Loom group somebody sent a link to some little mini movies on how to do this, and I STILL can't get the hang of it!  It makes me so mad because I picked up on the hat thing with no problem and yet I can't DO this!  The purple loom makes flat pieces like to make afghans and such.  I'm not so sure I'm in the mood to sit down with it today and try again.  If I do I may just throw it out the front door, into 'File 13' as my dad always says!  LOL!  Patience is not one of my best attributes now that I'm 'middle aged'.

I am looking for another Ebay package anyday too and it is a 'bootie loom' to make baby booties with.  How am I going to learn to make booties if I can learn these stupid flat squares?  AArrrggg!

Blah Monday

  • Weather:

I have the blues today.  I just can't get motivated to do anything this morning and its already noon.  I have been having a pretty bad nasal allergy attack the last few days and it always really drags me down fast when I get like this.  I am exhausted and nauseaous and then again when I get like this it makes me depressed and blue.

Okay, pity party over.

One good thing is that this morning I finally figured out how to put pony beads on my hat brims the RIGHT way.  What row to put them and where to put them so they are woven in and don't stick out.  Yay....a little acomplishment there.  Let's see, what has went on here this weekend.....my brother broke his wheel on his truck Friday night when he hit a huge pothole.  He was very upset.  It ruined a $200 wheel and it can't be fixed in any way.  Just thrown away.  Lucky he had another set of tires and wheels anyway.  My brother also went to see Toby Keith last night in Atl.  I haven't heard from him this morning so I don't know how it was.  Myself, TK is not my favorite for some reason.

Hubs had to work at the pipeline this weekend...Sat and Sun.  We did get a Walmart trip in on Sat night.  Spent too much money--$160!  And that was just on some school supplies and little stuff.  Of course Keri filled the cart up pretty quick herself.  When that girl goes shopping, she shops!

Not much else.  I need to go do some laundry and get the mail.  TTFN!
